Fairy

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Fantasy.

My fantasy page features a very pretty fairy from the Sleeping Beauty papers by Stamperia.

For my background, I painted Stormy Sky, Pine Needles and Tattered Rose Distress Paints onto my page and left it to dry. Then I stamped a Fragments stamp by Tim Holtz, layering the stamp all over the page using Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink and then White Moonlight Brilliance Ink. I edged the paper pieces from a Sleeping Beauty Stamperia paper pad using a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker and then I stuck them in place using a glue stick. To finish, I added some pretty leaves and flowers by Little Birdie.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

I’m hoping fairies might be living amongst the flowers in my garden – spring has definitely sprung and our garden border is looking so beautiful this year (smile!).

Hoping that you all stay safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Sisters

This page was inspired by my sister; we go to Aqua Aerobics every week together where you’ll find us singing along to the songs and giggling (a lot – smile!).

Purple is my sister’s favourite colour, so I started by painting a purple wash around the edges of the page; gradually pulling the colour into the centre so that the purple faded out in the centre. Then to make the centre brighter, I added some white acrylic paint blending it with the purple using a baby wipe. Next I used a stencil, around the edges of the page, to add some Ranger Texture paste which I had coloured using DecoArt Glamour Dust Purple Passion Glitter Paint, and then I left it to dry. The wording was a Kaisercraft sticker and reads “Giggles, secrets, sometimes tears, sisters and friends, through the years”. I added some little hearts that were cut from the sticker cardstock using a heart shaped punch. Finally I arranged the paper flowers and assorted gems, which my sister gifted me one Christmas (thank you!).

There’s still another week to join our Inspired By A Song challenge over at Try it on Tuesday; me and my sister always enjoy singing and “Sisters” is a favourite of ours.

Of course, the Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye lip-synced version is fab and so much fun (smile!); both are from the same film, White Christmas.

As part of my birthday present this year, my sister kindly treated me to some Purple Moose beers; here we have Elderflower Ale (Pale Ale), Chocolate Moose (Chocolate and Vanilla Porter), High Hops (Tropical IPA), Antlered IPA (India Pale Ale) and Navigator (Red IPA).

My gift included this amazing glass, if you look closely it has lots of little white mooses all over it – yay! As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing my glass and beers with the T Gang – cheers and Happy T Day!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Birthday cake

It was my birthday last week, and I thought my birthday cake packaging and ribbon would be great to recycle to create an art journal page, so here it is (smile).

I started by adding the wording “Have your cake & eat it”, which I ripped from the bag that the cake came in and then stuck into place using a glue stick. Then I added clouds over the page covering the wording too, to match the blue cloudy sky design on my cake, using Speckled Egg and Salty Ocean Distress Ink and a Slimline Sunburst Stencil/Mask by Marianne Design. The circles were die cut from the cake box packaging and I arranged them onto the page with the pretty rainbow ribbon which was around the base of the cake. To finish, I added some Tim Holtz Label Stickers to the circles; they read “Happy Birthday, “Eat cake”, “Thanks” and “Make a wish”.

Don’t forget that there is still another week to join our Rainbow Colours challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, it would be lovely to see you there.

Here’s my birthday cake, it was a light sponge cake filled with buttercream and raspberry jam, covered and topped with royal icing decoration; it was very yummy and we needed a fire engine with all the candles my mum added to it (smile!).

Hoping that you all stay safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Life is so good

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Rainbow Colours.

I took my inspiration from our travels again; this time from some beautifully coloured and patterned steps that we discovered in Mijas, Spain.

For my page, I coloured the background with Stormy Sky Distress Paint and some white acrylic paint. Then I used the same white paint to create the clouds. Next I selected design papers to represent the rainbow colours and used a compass protractor cutting tool to cut them out; using the tool meant that they fitted together perfectly to form my rainbow. To finish, I added the “Life is so good” wording which was a Kaisercraft sticker.

My inspiration for my rainbow design were these colourful tiled steps that we saw when we visited Mijas, on the Costa del Sol, in Spain last year.

It was such a beautiful village with the typical Andalusian white-washed houses, located on a mountainside.

We enjoyed exploring the pretty meandering streets, shops and climbing up to the viewpoint which looked over the village and out to sea.

Hoping that you all stay safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

You make me smile

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Use A Stencil.

As well as having some stencilling fun, I couldn’t resist recycling and using some cute leftovers to create this sunshiny page (smile!).

I started the page by recycling a yellow napkin for the sky and a flowery piece of tissue paper for the foreground; sticking them in place using a glue stick. Next I stencilled the sun and sunrays using a Slimline Sunburst Marianne Design mask stencil and some Mustard Seed Distress Ink. The little fox and tree were cut from some old design papers and stuck in place using double sided tape. To finish, I added the wording which was a Kaisercraft sticker and reads “You make me smile”.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

Here’s something else that made me smile, this sunny crochet topper can be found on one of our local post boxes – isn’t it fab!

They often have different toppers on the post box and last year one of them was actually stolen, so now they have a policeman keeping watch to make sure it doesn’t happen again (smile!).

Challenges

I’m joining the lovely Chris and her On All Fours challenge over at Art Journal Journey with my cute fox – I hope you like it!

Cherry Blossom

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Spring.

My Spring page is full of cherry blossom – I hope you like it!

I started by covering the page with water and then adding Red Madder Kuretake watercolour, so it pooled on the page, and then I left it to dry. Next I stamped the blossoms using a Stampendous stamp and Picked Raspberry Distress Archival Ink. The Cherry Blossom image was recycled from an old calendar and contains a Buddha quote which reads “Learn to let go. That’s the key to happiness”.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

Cherry blossom always reminds me of my dear friend who lives in Maine, America. With all the Maine related T Day posts last week, you had me thinking of my dearest friend, so here’s a blast from the past from when she visited us here in the UK, we just couldn’t resist having fun (smile!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m pleased to join the T Gang and share a yummy Belgian Cherry Wheatbeer that we enjoyed recently – cheers and Happy T Day!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Blue skies, birds and blossom

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is It’s In The Spotlight.

I used the spotlight technique to create this art journal page, spotlighting the blue skies, birds and blossoms that we saw when we visited Malaga last year.

I started by selecting two identical blossom pages from a colouring book and stuck one onto the page using a glue stick. Then I used a circular die set to die cut three circles out of the second page and I coloured the sky and blossoms using Kuretake watercolours; the colours I used were Ultramarine, Rose Madder, Dark Rose Madder, Lemon Yellow, Sap Green and Dark Sap Green. I stuck the circular images onto the page using a glue stick, making sure the designs matched and were in line. Next I cut two birds from a Kraft Cardstock Pad – Basics by Tim Holtz using a Silhouette Birds Sizzix Thinlits set by Tim Holtz and stuck them in place. To finish, I added the black and white wording; they read “go where your heart takes you”, “live in the moment” and “the journey is the destination”.

When we went on a last minute holiday to Torremolinos, we visited Malaga for the day; we were surprised to see these pretty pink blossoms on the trees as it was November.

Malaga is a very beautiful city and it’s history spans about 2,800 years; the cathedral was constructed between 1528 and 1782.

The cathedral gardens are beautiful too …

… as are the surrounding buildings.

This is the Episcopal Palace that is located next to the cathedral and is an amazing example of baroque architecture.

We stopped for a refreshing beer served in frosty glasses; turns out this is a pub chain, 100 Montaditos, can be found  in other areas of Europe too. Cheers and Happy T Day over at T Stands for Tuesday!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Bloom

Over at Try it on Tuesday our new challenge for the next two weeks is Hearts and/or Flowers.

For my page I created button flowers with heart shaped leaves – I hope you like it and are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there (smile).

The foreground was a piece of green cardstock by American Crafts. I arranged some recycled buttons onto the page, then I drew the stems with a black UniPin marker and stuck the buttons in place using Ranger Glossy Accents. Next I added the leaves to the stems by drawing hearts along them and to finish, using the same black marker, I drew a dotted line to spell “bloom” finishing the ends of the wording with some little bees.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!).

I based my hearts and flowers design on this mug, that I gifted my sister; I loved all the flowers and those bees are super cute (smile). As T Stands for T Day, I’m pleased to join Bleubeard and Elizabeth and the rest of the T Gang – Happy T Day!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Alpine Punch

It’s time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Add Some Text.

As you can see, I used lots of text on my page; recycling a menu and book pages for the background and also some tea packaging.

I started by covering the page with text; I collaged torn pieces of Dictionary and cyclopaedia pages and also Andělský Pivovar menu, which was from my previous post (as the tea shop, that we bought the tea from, was located in the same area of Prague).

The papers were stuck in place using a glue stick and Liquitex matte gel medium. Once dry, I added some colour using an Iced Chai Faber-Castell Gelato and edged the paper pieces using a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker; smudging the colours onto the page with my finger. Next I backed the red snowflake tea packaging onto cardstock and cut out the labels. I also used the packaging to die cut a teacup, hearts, and snowflakes using three different Sizzix Thinlits sets; the Thinlits were Tea Time by Olivia Rose, Falling Hearts by Tim Holtz and Cosy Winter by Tim Holtz. I arranged them onto the page with some winter foliage, to match the wreath on the packaging, which was also die cut; from linen textured cardstock using Funky Festive Thinlits by Tim Holtz. I arranged everything onto the page using a glue tape pen and I painted some steam rising from the cup, using a sponge to apply white acrylic paint, before sticking the hearts and snowflakes in place, so they stand out more.

When we visited the Anděl district of Prague, we purchased a Christmas blended tea. The tea is called Alpský Punč, which means Alpine Punch and is a blend of black tea, raisins, apples, cinnamon, raisins, orange blossom, walnut leaves and cloves. As T Stands for T Day, I’m pleased to join Bleubeard and Elizabeth with my tea inspired page and photos – Happy T Day!

I hope you are staying safe and well.

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Dear Santa

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

This was such a fun page to create and I love the Santa image – doesn’t he look jolly (smile!).

I started by covering a chipboard page with the “Dear Santa” paper that was from a letter pack to Santa (it was in the sale and I thought it would look good on one of my pages). Then I distressed the edges of the page using Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell marker, and I stamped some snowflakes using Toffee Crunch Memento Ink. The jolly Santa was from a Tim Holtz Christmas Ephemera pack and the wording I put together from a Tim Holtz Christmas sticker pack; it reads “The children were nestled all snug in their beds, Off to the land of dreams. When, from far up the chimney, Santa Claus came. Happy smiles and twinkling eyes, This very merry night”. To finish, some gold star outline stickers added some sparkle.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

Here’s another very jolly Santa that you will find on my Christmas Tree, it’s an old fashioned design (made of metal) and was from a local shop – wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.
