Every Moment

It’s the first Friday of June, so it’s time for a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, which as always is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

My mixed media page was inspired by some gorgeous Paper Pads that were gifted to me by a very dear family member (smile!).

My mixed media page started with a background that had gone wrong (does that happen to you?), so I covered it with Pébéo white gesso. When dry I applied black DecoArt acrylic paint over the top and then, I used a Moroccan Stencil from Creative Expressions and a baby wipe to remove some of the black paint; the gesso acted as a resist making it easier to remove the paint. I also rubbed areas of the page with the baby wipe to remove the black paint too, giving it a worn distressed look. Next I used an Etcetera stamp set by Tim Holtz and Moonlight White Brilliance Ink to add the text. The flowers, “Live, Laugh, Love” wording and butterflies were fussy cut from pages of the paper pad and stuck in place using Liquitex matte gel medium. To finish, I added a Kaisercraft sticker and outlined it with a white Uniball gel pen; the sticker reads “Every moment spent with you is special”.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there!

These are the paper pads which were gifted to me; they were found in a charity shop and are full of beautiful flowers and images – thanks so much for thinking of me!

Stay safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Be Awesome Today

Today I’m over at Country View Challenges sharing another journal page, using Tim Holtz products, for this month’s Things With Wings challenge.

I started by covering the page with some Villainous Potion Distress Paint allowing some of the chipboard page to show through. Then I stamped an old music stamp over the page using Villainous Potion Distress Ink and also Moonlight White Brilliance Ink. Next I added the white wording, which were from a Remnant Rubs set by Tim Holtz. The butterfly was created, from white cardstock, using a Perspective Butterfly Sizzix Thinlits set by Tim Holtz and to finish, I added the “be awesome today” wording which was from a Sticker book by Tim Holtz.

I hope you are inspired to join our challenge over at Country View Challenges too, if you do, you’ll have a chance to win a £20 voucher to use on the Country View Crafts.

The colours for this page were inspired by the purple spring flowers in our garden; we have tulips and …

… these very pretty flitillaries.

Stay safe and well!

Thanks so much for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Emboss It! … at Sparkles Monthly Challenge

Over at Sparkles Monthly Challenge, we are launching a new challenge today which is Emboss It!

I’m pleased to be hosting this month and I hope you like the theme that I chose; we would like you to include an embossing folder or embossing powder/enamel as part of your papercraft designs. For my card, I used an Arched embossing folder by Tim Holtz (smile!).

I started by cutting a piece of Kraft cardstock 6x4inches to fit my blank card and then I embossed it with an arch design using an Arched Embossing Folder by Tim Holtz. I highlighted the 3-D embossed design by running a Moonlight White Brilliance Ink Pad over the top. Next I die cut an oval from the embossed cardstock and also from a piece of white card using a Shapes Die Set by Marianne Designs. I layered them all together with a striped design paper for the background and also a pretty pink flower. The flower was created using a Flower Garden stamp by Tim Holtz, which I stamped onto mixed media paper using black Archival Ink, coloured using Kuretake watercolour paints and fussy cut out. The Kuretake paint colours I used were Rose Madder, Dark Rose Madder and White for the flower petals and Sap Green and Dark Sap Green for the foliage. To finish, I added a piece of lace and the “Happy Birthday” wording, which I stamped onto a piece of white card.

I hope you’ll join us at Sparkles Monthly Challenge too, for more inspiration please check out the amazing papercraft projects from my Sparkles Buddies in the Design Team too; we would love for you to join us. Please be sure to check out the rules here.

With the arches on this card, we are going back to a part of Venice where arches abound, Piazza San Marco also known as St. Marks Square. This Square contains some of the most famous buildings in Venice, here is St. Marks Clocktower. It was constructed above a high archway that leads back to the Rialto (where we visited on my last post) and was completed in 1849.

The beautiful Basilica dominates the Square.

It is so intricately detailed, with its great arches and marble, and the gold and fresco decorations are breathtaking.

St. Mark’s Campanile is a free standing tower in the Piazza, that was rebuilt in 1912, as the former Campanile collapsed in 1902.

This is a view of the Piazzetta (little Piazza/Square), which is an extension of the St. Mark’s Square looking towards San Marco basin (an area of the Venetian Lagoon). The Doge’s Palace is on the left and the library is on the right, and there are two columns at the end, one topped with the “Lion of Venice” and the other with a statue of “St. Theodore”.

I hope that you are enjoying visiting Venice with me (smile!).

Stay safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

I’d also like to send a warm welcome to the lovely Helen, who has re-joined our Design Team – yay! Please be sure to check out her blog and show her some love!

I started by covering the page with Light Green, Deep Green, and Phthalocyanine Green Liquitex Basics acrylic paints blending the colours together with a paint brush. When dry, I stamped a Mister Fox stamp set by Kaisercraft using black Archival Ink and a Tiny Dot stamp by Kaisercraft using Moonlight White Brilliance Ink. The flowers were cut, from white cardstock using a Large Stems Sizzix Bigz die set by Tim Holtz. They were stuck in place alongside the wording, “Take time to do what makes your soul happy,” which was a sticker from Kaisercraft. To finish, I added some white Glitterations dot stickers.

I started by covering the page with Antiqued Bronze Distress Paint and when dry I stamped a couple of Fragment stamps from a Stamper Anonymous stamp set by Tim Holtz using Moonlight White Brilliance Ink by Archival and Peeled Paint Distress Archival Ink. Next I added the torn pieces of paper and the pretty flowers which were from an Idea-ology Worn Wallpaper Scraps set and then to finish, I added the wording and frames from an Idea-ology Metallic Sticker Book by Tim Holtz.

The flowers on my page reminded me on the Wild Prickly Roses (Rosa Acicularis) which can be found on one of our beach walks; they smell divine in the summer when in bloom and form rose hips later in the year which stay on the plant throughout the winter.

Stay safe and well! x

New Beginnings

Today I’ve created another art journal page for our In With The New challenge at Try it on Tuesday.

I started by covering the page with three design papers, that I had leftover in my craft stash, using a glue stick. Next I added some stripes of border paper that I cut from the same Stamperia pad and then I stamped the star constellations onto the papers using a Stargazer stamp set by Kaisercraft, Moonlight White Brilliance Archival Ink and black Archival Ink. The main wolf image was, selected by my hubby, from a Cosmic Stamperia Paper Pad and I arranged it onto the page with some complimentary paper pieces and wording which I cut from the same pad. The wording reads “Trust the magic of new beginnings” linking to the New theme over at Try it on Tuesday.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

Traditional Christmas

Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Traditional Christmas.

For this challenge, I had fun collaging different papers and cardstock images with some gold leaf to create this page.

I started by ripping some sections out of a piece of burgundy Christmas paper and then I adhered it to the page placing some white Holly tissue paper underneath. Next I stamped the white stars using a Lavinia stamp and Moonlight White Archival Brilliance Ink. I added some dots and splodges of gold leaf to the background paper and also covered the torn paper edges with the gold leaf. Then I splattered the page with some gold Liquitex Acrylic Ink. The two large images of the Christmas tree and presents were layered onto the page with some die cut foliage, buttons, a sledge, some bells, stars and a “Merry Christmas” and a “Season’s Greetings” gold banner wording. Then to finish, I added the die cut clock, robin and gold stars to the background.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful Traditional Christmas creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

Once winter is here, one of our traditions is to change our garden flag to this beautiful winter robin scene; it always reminds me of Christmas (smile!).

Embossed Autumn Leaves

Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Emboss It; this can be wet or dry embossing.

I had fun creating this autumnal page which features both wet and dry embossing techniques.

I started by covering the page with Driftwood DecoArt acrylic paint and when dry, I stamped a woodgrain stamp from BoBunny using some Moonlight White Brilliance Ink over the top. Next I used a Typewriter embossing folder by Tim Holtz and a leaf and swirls embossing folder to emboss some autumnal coloured masterboard that I had left over from a previous project; the masterboard was coloured by smooshing Rusty Hinge, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I then dragged a Ground Espresso Distress Ink pad over the top of the embossed paper to highlight the embossed patterns. Next I fussy cut the letters and some of the leaves and swirls from one of the embossed papers, and I edged the rectangle of embossed paper using some Vintage Ivory embossing enamel by Stampendous. Then I arranged everything onto the page with two chipboard birds which were also covered using the same embossing enamel.

As we’re celebrating autumn and T Stands for Tuesday, here’s my green tea with a piece of homemade pumpkin roll filled with cream cheese frosting – Happy T Day everyone!

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

T Day ATCs and a Big Thank You

I had a lovely surprise in the post, some happy mail from Bleubeard and Elizabeth which contained the napkins from the napkin swap to celebrate T Stands for Tuesday 9th Anniversary – thank you so much!

Although it wasn’t part of the napkin swap, I created an ATC for each of those taking part; so today I’m sharing how I made them (smile!).

Using some old playing cards as my base, I started by covering the front of 9 cards using some Pébéo white gesso with a brayer and left them to dry. Next I added some torn Dictionary page pieces over the top using Liquitex matte gel medium. When dry, I coloured them using washes of Burnt Sienna and Ultramarine Kuretake Watercolour paint and then I stamped them using a Fragments stamp by Tim Holtz and black Archival Ink.

I used a couple of die cut sets to cut out the teacups and saucers, the flowers and little bird from some coloured papers. The teacups and saucers were stamped using the Fragments stamp and Moonlight White Brilliance Ink. Everything was arranged onto the ATCs using Liquitex matte gel medium along with various DoCrafts stickers to create the “T Day” wording and a number “9” which was die cut.

For the reverse of the ATC, I covered the back of the cards with black DecoArt Acrylic paint and I stamped the Fragments stamp using the Moonlight White Brilliance Ink. The wording was printed using a Dymo Letratag Label Maker and I stamped the “Handmade with love…” using black Archival Ink; everything was stuck in place with some of the die cut flowers.

As you may know Bleubeard and Elizabeth kindly sent some amazing postage stamps as part of the napkin swap which you can see here – thanks so much, they are so beautiful!
It looks like I may have the pink flowered international stamp that was mentioned on Bleubeard & Elizabeth’s blog post last week – yippee! Also the black and white washi tape was holding the ATCs together which I plan to recycle.

Of course all the napkins are fabulous and I received so many that I couldn’t fit them all in one photo (grin!).

I can’t wait to get creative with them on my art journal pages – thank you so much to everyone who sent napkins for the swap! Also a big thank you to E and Sharon for organising everything – you’re both stars!!!

I had such a lovely surprise when I found all these stunning ATCs amongst the napkins; from top left to right we have Sharon, Elle, Lisca, Bleubeard & Elizabeth, Chris and Mia). It was so kind and thoughtful of everyone – thanks so much!

All the teacups featured on this post allow me to join this week’s T Day – wishing you all a very Happy T Day!

I hope that you’re all staying safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Magic is everywhere

It’s time for a new challenge at Try it on Tuesday which for the next two weeks is Make It Magical.

For my magical page, I started by covering the background with Prize Ribbon and Villainous Poison Distress Paints. Then I fussy cut the wizard image, which was recycled from an old book, and stuck it in place. I applied some Pébéo white gesso to continue the bright glow from the wizard image across the bottom right-hand side of the page. Then I splattered the page with the gesso too. I used Moonlight White Brilliance Ink by Ranger to stamp all the stars using a Lavinia stamp, the “Magic is everywhere” wording using stamps by Paperbabe Stamps and the constellation stamps which were from Kaisercraft. To finish, I added lots of tiny gemstones to highlight the stamping on the page.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

We enjoyed a magical time with our friends this weekend, and I made these egg, bacon and cheese breakfast sandwiches one morning – they are very yummy (smile!). As it’s the 9th Anniversary at T Stands for Tuesday, I’m pleased to share them and my cuppa with my T Gang friends – wishing you a very Happy Anniversary T Day!
