Every Moment

It’s the first Friday of June, so it’s time for a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, which as always is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

My mixed media page was inspired by some gorgeous Paper Pads that were gifted to me by a very dear family member (smile!).

My mixed media page started with a background that had gone wrong (does that happen to you?), so I covered it with Pébéo white gesso. When dry I applied black DecoArt acrylic paint over the top and then, I used a Moroccan Stencil from Creative Expressions and a baby wipe to remove some of the black paint; the gesso acted as a resist making it easier to remove the paint. I also rubbed areas of the page with the baby wipe to remove the black paint too, giving it a worn distressed look. Next I used an Etcetera stamp set by Tim Holtz and Moonlight White Brilliance Ink to add the text. The flowers, “Live, Laugh, Love” wording and butterflies were fussy cut from pages of the paper pad and stuck in place using Liquitex matte gel medium. To finish, I added a Kaisercraft sticker and outlined it with a white Uniball gel pen; the sticker reads “Every moment spent with you is special”.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there!

These are the paper pads which were gifted to me; they were found in a charity shop and are full of beautiful flowers and images – thanks so much for thinking of me!

Stay safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Collect Beautiful Moments

It’s the first of the month so it’s time for a new challenge at Country View Challenges which is Vintage, and is being hosted by the lovely Craftyfield.

As Vintage is one of my favourite styles, this challenge gave me the excuse to create this old-fashioned distressed page using Tim Holtz products.

All the flowers on this page were stencilled using a Floral Stencil by Tim Holtz; first I used it to apply some Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the chipboard page and then some white gesso which I left it to dry overnight. I painted around the edges of the flowers and foliage using Ground Espresso Distress Ink to make them stand out more. Then, to give the white flowers and foliage more of a Vintage look, I dragged an Antique Linen Distress Ink pad over the top and then I splattered the Vintage Photo ink over the whole page. I added the script text using black Archival Ink and an Etcetera stamp set by Tim Holtz and the “Collect beautiful moments” wording, which was a Metallic sticker by Tim Holtz. To finish, I splattered the page with as white and black DecoArt acrylic paints.

For more inspiration please see the amazing creations from my fellow Design Team members over at Country View Challenges.

We are looking forward to seeing your makes and you never know, you might even win a £20 voucher for the shop, Country View Crafts! Before you enter your project though, please read the rules.

The blossoms on my page remind me of the ones on the apple trees in our garden, it seems that everything is in full bloom all of a sudden (smile!).

Stay safe and well! x

Safety, Strength, Speed

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Make It Masculine.

For my Masculine page, I started by adding some leftover pieces of Voyages Fantastiques papers from Stamperia by collaging them onto the page using Liquitex matte gel medium. Then I applied some Ranger Crackle Paste using a palette knife and left it to dry overnight. Next I added Caramel and Earl Grey Faber-Castell Gelatos; scribbling the gelato onto the page and then using a wet paintbrush and baby wipe to disperse the colour. I also added touches of water down Salvaged Patina Distress Paint to the edges of some of the papers. When completely dry, I added the two male images to the page using glue tape, which were also from the Voyages Fantastique Stamperia pad and I edged using Ground Espresso Distress Ink.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

This steampunk styled page reminds me of the SpareParts Festival, which is local to us and takes place in the summer. This festival is described as a large-scale transport themed art piece and includes some very creative modes of transport.

There are some amazing contraptions, like this one (smile!).

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Simplicity

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Keep It Simple.

I kept it simple with a stencil background, a beautiful Stamperia image and a word stamp.

The background was created by using a Rose Stamperia stencil like a stamp, rubbing a Saltwater Taffy Distress Ink pad onto the stencil and spritzing with water. Then I placed the stencil onto the page and pressed lightly to transfer the ink; this was repeated a couple of times to fill the page. The pretty image was from a Sir Vagabond in Japan paper pad by Stamperia and I simply stuck it in place using glue tape and then edged it with some black Glitterations border outline stickers. To finish, I used black Archival Ink and an old stamp to add the wording, which reads “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”.

I love the geisha girl image that I used on this page and the simple design seems very fitting to showcase it (smile!). My page reminded me of this beautiful cross-stitch that my mum created, I’m in awe of her talent and patience as she has created many of these cross stitch pictures. It is quite a contrast to my page as it is so very detailed; breathtakingly so!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Just Believe – Tag

Over at Sparkles Monthly Challenge, we are launching a new challenge today which is Things With Wings.

For my papercraft inspiration I created a tag with a beautiful bee and honeycomb die set – I hope you like it!

I started by covering a chipboard tag with a wash of watered-down white gesso and then applied some Ranger Crackle Texture Paste and left it to dry overnight. Then I stained the crackle and added some shading to the tag, using some Ground Espresso Distress Ink, applying it like watercolour. I cut the honeycomb, flowers, foliage and bees from various colours of Linen Textured Cardstock using a Bee Hive Sizzix Thinlits set by Olivia Rose. I arranged them onto the tag using Crafter’s Companion Glue Tape and to finish, I added a Label Sticker from Tim Holtz that reads “Just Believe”.

I hope you’ll join us at Sparkles Monthly Challenge too, for more inspiration please check out the amazing papercraft projects from my Sparkles Buddies in the Design Team too; we would love for you to join us. Please be sure to check out the rules here.

This tag was a special surprise for my Sister, who loves bees. These are the pretty fairy lights that my sister has in the canopy of her sun umbrella; these bees look so pretty all lit up at night (smile!).

Thank You Friend

It’s the first Friday of May, so it’s time for a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, which as always is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

My mixed media page was inspired by birthday cards and goodies from my dearest friends; the dotty paper was a recycled envelope from one of my birthday cards and the gorgeous butterfly was a napkin that was sent to me by my good friend, Tracey.

I started by ripping the dotty envelope into pieces and arranging them onto the page using a glue stick and some matte gel medium. Then I ripped the edges of napkin from around the beautiful butterfly image and applied the butterfly to the page. I arranged the ripped pieces of leftover napkin in-between the dotty paper and stuck them in place using matte gel medium. When dry, I used various colours of Kuretake watercolour paint to match and colour around the napkin pieces. Then I edged the papers and butterfly using a Uni Pin fine line marker smudging the ink with my finger. To finish, I added a Tim Holtz label sticker which reads “Thank You Friend”.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there!

I received some beautiful cards and gifts last month for my birthday; this homemade card and crafting goodies were sent to me by my dear friend Tracey from New Beginnings …Creating in my Corner – thank you so much!

Faith in every flower

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Use A Stencil.

I had fun using four stencils to create this page, I hope you like it (smile!).

For my bright and cheery stencilled page, I started by covering the background with Mermaid Lagoon and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks. I blended some Seedless Grape Distress Ink along the edges of colours blending them together. I used the same three Distress Inks to stencil the dots, squares and crosses over the top. Next I applied some Ranger Texture Paste through a flower stencil and left it to dry. To finish, I added a sticker which reads “Faith in every flower”.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

Submarine

It’s time for a new challenge at Country View Challenges, the lovely Monica is hosting this month and has chosen Vehicles.

I created a mixed media journal page and my choice of vehicle today, is a Submarine (smile!).

To create this page, I started by covering the background with Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter Distress Paints and left them to dry. Next, I coloured some Ranger Texture Paste with both of the paints and then stencilled them using a Thick Stencil Lady Vagabond Lifestyle Compass stencil by Stamperia. When dry, I covered the rivets and the textured metal checker plate panels using Ranger Glossy Accents; if you look closely, you can see the glossy shine on the panels. The submarine wording and images were cut from papers from a Sea World pad by Stamperia. I edged them using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a Deep Sepia Faber-Castell marker, then layered them together. To finish, I applied Ranger Glossy Accents to the “Sea” wording, all the rivets and the two port holes on the papers.

For more inspiration please see the amazing creations from my fellow Design Team members over at Country View Challenges.

We are looking forward to seeing your makes and you never know, you might even win a £20 voucher for the shop, Country View Crafts! Before you enter your project though, please read the rules.

When recently walking around Lytham Hall, we were greeted by this huge tank (septic) that is being installed; it reminded me of a submarine – smile!

Rainbow Colours

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Rainbow Colours.

My rainbow colours were created using a watercolour and sea salt technique; I hope you like it!

I started by adding some columns of Kuretake watercolour paint; the colours I used were Red, Cadmium Scarlet, Lemon Yellow, Sap Green, Turquoise Blue, Cobalt Violet and Rose Madder. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled some sea salt over the top and left it to dry. When full dry, I brushed the sea salt off the page; the sea salt absorbed the wet paint creating the mottled effect. I stamped the typewriter letters using a Carabelle Studio stamp and black Archival Ink over the top and then added the flowers, which were recycled from a birthday card and stuck in place using double-sided tape. To finish, I added four Small Talk Stickers by Tim Holtz; as rainbows are synonymous with making wishes and luck, I chose the following wording “keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable”, “miracles happen when you believe”, “a dream is a wish you heart makes” and “I feel so lucky”.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

The beautiful rainbow colours on my page were inspired by my travels to Burano, which is one of the islands in the Venetian Lagoon, that we visited whilst in Venice.

Unlike the muted colours of the architecture in Venice City, there are different restrictions on the colours that you can paint houses in Burano. Bright colours are the norm here and if someone wishes to paint their home, they must send a request to the government, who will respond by making notice of the certain colours permitted for that lot.

Burano is such a beautiful and cheery place; it is known for its small, brightly painted houses and is considered among the ten most colourful places in the world (smile!).

Stay safe and well!

Sweet Wishes

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Oh So Sweet!

I created a page for some very sweet animals who are having a fun, using a Woodland Celebrations Sizzix Thinlits set by Olivia Rose.

I started by stencilling the background using Mowed Lawn and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks to create the clouds and foreground, using a Slimline Sunburst stencil set by Marianne Designs. Then I die cut the bunting and the cute animals with their balloons using the Woodland Celebration Sizzix Thinlits set by Olivia Rose from different coloured Linen Textured cardstock. I layered all the pieces together and stuck them onto the page using a glue tape pen by Crafter’s Companion. The flowers were die cut from the same linen cardstock using a Flowers in Umbrella Sizzix Thinlits set by Olivia Rose. To finish, I added the “Sweet Wishes” wording which was die cut using a Creative Expressions die by Sue Wilson and layered onto a black die cut circle which I decorated with some of the bunting.
