Today I’m joining the lovely Sheila’s Single Flower challenge over at Art Journal Journey with my single daffodil page; I’m sorry I’m so late joining in the fun but this is the first opportunity that I’ve had to join you so far this month.
My single daffodil is making sweet music with some pretty birds and lots of green inks and papers to say that spring is on its way (grin).
For the background, I applied Peeled Paint, Pine Needles and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks through a Dissolving Planets stencil by Sheena Douglass. When dry, I added some Pébéo white gesso over the top using a brayer. Next I tore some paper pieces from a wallpaper sample and layered them onto the page using some Liquitex matte gel medium. They are arranged with two framed birds and the “Sweet Music” wording which were all fussy cut from the same wallpaper sample and also the daffodil which was cut from an old magazine. I edged all the paper elements using a Dark Sepia Faber-Castell Big Brush marker and a black Uni Pin marker smudging the inks with my finger. Then I applied some Ranger Glossy Accents to the metal corners that framed the bird images; this gave them a 3D appearance. To finish, I added some torn pieces of yellow and white polka dot washi tape which were edged using the Dark Sepia marker.
Here are some of the pretty little daffodils currently flowering in our garden making it feel like spring is on it’s way!
I hope that you are staying safe and well! x
Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

The Anything Goes challenge over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog with my vintage springtime page. The Use Something Green challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge too with all the green colour I included in my design. LTSCB #143 – Anything Goes challenge over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog with my spring page. As always a lovely page and the daff in your garden screams Spring. Still snow on the ground here so we won’t see the daffs for another month.

“Shabby Shutters” – whoever named these Distress colours was a marketing genius.
That was a clever wallpaper sample to find. I like the idea of making the background with torn bits and they seem to merge together seamlessly, and finding the birds and words too on the same wallpaper is just perfect for the Spring page. Nice use of yellow washi tape which catches the colour of the daffodil.
It’s a beautiful page, Jo, and thanks so much for linking it to our theme at AJJ.

Beautiful journal page with the birds and their singing. Spring is coming, so now I would be happy if it would come but for me it storms like this and it gets cold again.
I wish you a nice weekend, hug Elke

This is simply stunning, Jo. Leave it to you to do something I would never consider: outlining washi tape with a marker! Like you, I love to use old wallpaper samples. I used to get them at the big box stores, but no more. Now I just have to use what I have. Of course, I have nothing as lovely as your birds and sweet music. That daffodil is beautiful. It certainly says spring to me. Nothing growing here yet, in the way of flowers, so I am in awe that yours are already blooming. Thanks for this beautiful first entry for Sheila’s theme at Art Journal Journey, dear.

Love your page! And your daffodils are absolutely gorgeous! I don’t believe Spring is on it’s way here quite yet… we’re getting lots of snow still! 😉

This is beautiful Jo. The birds are a sweet addition and I like how you used the photograph of a daffodil. That yellow really pops off the page. And lucky you to have daffodils already. One thing about northern New England is that winter is often not in any hurry to leave. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Hugs-Erika

I’m enjoying your daffodils 🙂 The ones I potted here got bitten by an unusually cold freeze, so they’ve just folded over and given up without blooming. Thanks for giving me some virtual flower happiness 🙂

Pretty spring AJP with that single daffodil and those etched birds. Your own daffodils in your garden are equally welcoming! For some strange reason, all of my varieties bloomed at one time, so I’ve got quite a spring bed going. Supposed to have hail tomorrow, so I need to go out and soak in all their beauty. thanks once again for playing along in our Anything Goes Challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog! You are going to make it so hard to choose a favorite!
