Capturing the Winter Season

Happy New Year!

It’s our first challenge of the year over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is It’s Cold Outside; I hope you like my snowy winter scene (smile!).

To see how this page came together, please check out the short video below that captures the magic of the winter season, featuring a cosy sleigh and a majestic reindeer.

Join me in this creative adventure as we delve into the magical world of the winter season, complete with a serene snowy landscape and a majestic reindeer. This tutorial will guide you through a step-by-step process bringing to life the enchanting spirit of reindeer, snowflakes and cosy sleigh rides. From selecting the perfect papers to adding intricate details, you’ll learn how to transform your art journal to a captivating winter scene that celebrates the beauty and joy of the season (smile!).

The mixed media that I used to create this page was Stamperia paper, Crafter’s Companion glue tape and dots pens, Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend markers, Uni Pin Fine Line marker, Uniball gel pen, Tim Holtz Thinlits, white acrylic paint, Stamperia Rub-ons, and Liquitex acrylic ink.

For more inspiration, please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

This page was also inspired by my new reindeer decoration; it even has bells like the reindeer on my page (smile).

I bought the reindeer from The Flower Shop in Clitheroe; this shop is such a beautiful place to explore with lots of hidden treasures; you can just make out the reindeer at the bottom centre of this photo, on the shelf  under the plants (smile!).

Cakes almost too good to eat

It’s my hubby’s birthday month which means a visit to Harwoods Patisserie. Inspired by the unique autumnal cake designs I combined autumn ephemera and recycled the cake boxes to create this unique art journal page (smile!).

In this heartwarming art journaling tribute, I’m celebrating the whimsical world of mushroom and pumpkin cakes through mixed media art.

This video takes you on my creative journey and shows my step-by-step approach as I explore the world of art and craft to capture these amazingly designed cakes.

The mixed media that I used to create this page was card stock, recycled patisserie cake boxes, outline border stickers, autumn ephemera, Crafter’s Companion glue tape and Stix2 double sided foam tape.

Here’s the yummy cakes with the cake boxes, that I recycled for my page, from Harwoods Patisserie, which were:

  • Pear and Caramelised White Chocolate Mushroom- cinnamon poached pear with white chocolate mousse on a digestive biscuit base.
  • Pumpkin – pumpkin seed praline mousse, parkin cake with a caramel centre.
  • The mini cakes from left to right were Treacle Tart, Pumpkin and Orange Delice.

Harwoods Patisserie offers a different cake selection to match the season and they are so delicious!
