Go Green

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is Go Green; please use the colour green and/or recycle.

I’d also like to send a warm welcome to the lovely Helen, who has re-joined our Design Team – yay! Please be sure to check out her blog and show her some love!

I started by covering the page with Light Green, Deep Green, and Phthalocyanine Green Liquitex Basics acrylic paints blending the colours together with a paint brush. When dry, I stamped a Mister Fox stamp set by Kaisercraft using black Archival Ink and a Tiny Dot stamp by Kaisercraft using Moonlight White Brilliance Ink. The flowers were cut, from white cardstock using a Large Stems Sizzix Bigz die set by Tim Holtz. They were stuck in place alongside the wording, “Take time to do what makes your soul happy,” which was a sticker from Kaisercraft. To finish, I added some white Glitterations dot stickers.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

I hope that you are staying safe and well!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Today I’m over at Country View Challenges sharing my “Happy Valentine’s Day” journal page for this month’s Be Sentimental challenge.

For the background, I covered the chipboard page with Lumberjack Plaid and Saltwater Taffy Distress Paints and left them to dry overnight. Using Kraft Cardstock – Classic papers from Tim Holtz, I die cut the prancing deer using a Delightful Deer Sizzix Thinlits set by Lisa Jones, the hearts using a Heartfelt Sizzix Bigz Die by Tim Holtz and the sentiment using an All Occasions Sizzix Thinlits set by Olivia Rose; they were all stuck in place using matte gel medium. To finish, I splattered the page with white DecoArt acrylic paint and added the white ceramic hearts.

I hope you are inspired to join our Be Sentimental challenge over at Country View Challenges too, if you do, you’ll have a chance to win a £20 voucher to use on the Country View Crafts.

The deer on this page were created using this Delightful Deer Sizzix Thinlits set by Lisa Jones and I was amazed to find not only the two prancing deer shown on the packaging but a third deer too; I can’t wait to use this adorable deer – perfect (smile!).

Stay safe and well!

Thanks so much for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Love and Devotion

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which is All You Need is Love.

I started by covering the page with Pébéo white gesso as, when dry, it’s a wonderful base medium for the Faber-Castell Gelatos that were used to colour this page, making them easier to smudge and blend. I used Watermelon and Coconut Gelatos which I scribbled over the background and smudged with my finger and a little water. Next I added the fragments of gold tissue paper that I had previously die cut; they were leftover from another journal page. The love and devotion heart image was fussy cut from an old magazine and once stuck in place, I surrounded it with some blue and cream pearl gemstone clusters which finished the page.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

I’m sharing this romantic Valentine’s dessert served in a pretty white teacup from Lytham Hall café. It’s a chocolate cupcake topped with pink icing, silver sprinkles and dark chocolate! It almost looks too good to eat!

Stay safe and well!

Love

It’s a new month so we are launching our first challenge of the year today over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, and as always the theme is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

Happy New Year everyone! For my mixed media page I used lots of leftovers that I had in my craft stash – yay!

I started by collaging leftover papers onto the page using a glue stick; this included torn pieces of recycled sheet music, leftover pieces of Aviary Collage Paper by Tim Holtz, some bits and pieces of plaid and ruler design papers. When the papers were stuck in place, I covered the edges of the papers with some Liquitex matte gel medium and left it to dry; this allowed me to smudge the black Faber-Castell marker ink that I added around the edges, more easily, with my finger. Next I applied some Earl Grey, Coconut and Caramel Faber-Castell Gelatos by applying them to the page and then smudging the colour with my finger. I added two hearts and the “love” wording which were also leftover. To finish, I splattered the page using both white and black DecoArt acrylic paint.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see join you there!

Recently, there have been some beautiful cloud formations and colours in the evenings; the sunset pinks, creamy yellows and greys all look so pretty together (smile!). I thought Bleubeard & Elizabeth might like the view of the silhouette palm trees in our back garden too.

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well.

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Christmas Robins

I was kindly gifted some part-used topper and cardstock sets by M, my very dear MIL, which were from a charity shop. Of course, I fell in love with the robin designs as soon as I saw them, so I created this simple, fun page (smile!).

I started by covering the whole page with a piece of cardstock, that had lots of robins sitting on a branch hanging their stockings. Then I had fun adding all the hanging baubles and bells from the branches using some coloured baubles stickers and some thin strips of silver border outline stickers. To finish, I used the toppers from the same robin pack to create the signage which reads “Flying by to wish you a Merry Christmas”.

It was so kind of M to think of me and gift me such gorgeous cardstock and toppers for my art journal pages (smile!); I’m looking forward to creating more pages with these goodies!

Hoping that you’re all staying safe and well and Happy Journaling! Hugs Jo x
