Fairytale of Brew York

Today I have a page to share that I created by recycling a beer can label; we enjoyed this yummy beer over the holidays – Cheers and Happy New Year everyone!

I started by extending the label image over the page using a pencil and then colouring the different sections using Speckled Egg and Rustic Wildness Distress Paint and white acrylic paint. For the sky section, I used was Brushed Brass Distress Paint mixed with white acrylic paint. Next I die cut some fir tree branches, from some green Kraft Cardstock-Classic, using a Holiday Greens Thinlits set by Tim Holtz and some snowflakes using a Paper Snowflakes Mini Thinlits set by Tim Holtz from some white cardstock. I stuck everything in place using Liquitex matte gel medium and then splattered the page with white acrylic paint. To finish, I added some stickers from a Christmas Sticker Book by Tim Holtz.

We really enjoyed the beer, which was a Gingerbread Milk Stout – wishing you all Happy New Year and as T Stands for T Day sending you Happy T Day wishes too!

“Fairytale of Brew York takes a warming ginger spin. Rich gingerbread, cinnamon spice and heaps of creamy vanilla combine for this Christmas stout”.

Hoping that you all stay safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. You did a great job extending the label over your page Jo. That page is impressive. That’s a such fun label too. Here most cans have the image printed on them now, so it’s hard to get such a cool label to use on a page. But if I did have a label to use, I think I would have saved it too. And gingerbread Milk stout sounds quite festive. I had a spiced apple cider a few weeks back that was festive too. Cheers to festive drinks. Hope 2023 has started well for you and have a happy T day too. hugs-Erika

  2. A fabulous page Jo, what a fab label! I’m impressed that you managed to get it off the can cleanly.
Had my first beer of the year today, after a lovely walk with friends. It was a fruity little number called Ghost Ship.
Hope you’re having a lovely week,
    Alison xx

  3. This is a generic copy and paste because I have so many I need to visit. I have been offline since early Tuesday morning. Not only did I lose internet and phone, I also lost heat and electricity. Thank goodness for extra blankets, layering, and two very warm fur babies. Just wanted you to know why you haven’t heard from me.

I LOVE how you recycled the beer can and extended the scene to the edge of the page. Thanks for a great entry and for that beer that looks like I would definitely like (and drink) for T this week, dear Jo.
