Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Winter Wonderland.
My page was inspired by a beautiful Christmas card of a pretty robin sitting in a winter wonderland.
Using the Christmas card as reference, I painted the page to recreate the scenery on the card using Kuretake watercolours paints. Then I die cut the berries, grasses and seed heads from different colours of Tim Holtz Kraft Cardstock- Classic; the dies cuts that I used were Garden Greens Thinlits by Tim Holtz for the berries, a Holiday Greens Thinlits set by Tim Holtz for the grasses and a Delicate Autumn Stems Thinlits set by Lisa Jones for the seed heads. I stamped the trees and over-painted them using the Kuretake watercolours and I stamped some tiny snowflakes over the Christmas card and background. I stuck the Christmas card and all the die cuts in place and then I painted and heavily splattered the page with white acrylic paint. Once dry, I added the wording which were from a Christmas sticker book by Tim Holtz; they read “the beauty of a winter sky”, “wonder”, “little winter bird” and “the first snow has fallen”.
For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

The robins you have in England are such adorable little birds, and I love how you used the card scene to create your beautiful winter scene. It came out amazing Jo. Using the card was a clever idea. and that tin of shortbread has such a cute winter scene on it, and can you go wrong with shortbread and a cup of tea? Not as far as I know. Hope the month ends well for you. hugs-Erika

Your page is so cute and I love how your cup matches. I wish we had those cute robins here. The shortbread tin is adorable and reminds me of the work my calligraphy teacher did for a client. The client had 2 Scottie dogs so my teacher designed Christmas cards each year for the client with the 2 Scottie dogs. Happy T Day

I remember when I found out that European robins were a completely different bird than American robins. Fun! Happy T Tuesday

I was beyond amazed at how the die cuts and stamp you used to recreate that card nearly replicated it. What a way to reuse a card. Stunning. And it’s a real beauty for Bleubeard’s and my theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
I think that Scottish tin is so very cute and the shortbread looks good enough to eat. I love how your tea mug matches your lovely journal page, too. Thanks for sharing this with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jo.

This is such a lovely, gorgeous page, Jo! Perfect for Winter Wonderland. Oh, and the Scottish shortbread – I love it! We often have a piece of shortbread (usually Walkers since it’s easy to get here) with our hot chocolate in the evening and thoroughly enjoy it.

A lovely page Jo – that is the snow I like, on a Christmas card or scene of any kind. Just not underfoot when folks have to drive to work and it get dangerous. Love how you have continued the scene you had and congrats on such a lovely scene it is.
Pass the shortbread please.
Hugs, Neet xx
