Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Animals – Real or Imaginary.

Here’s my page which was inspired by and features some adorable giraffes.

For my smooshed background, I used a grid mini stencil from Creative Expressions like a stamp to add Weathered Wood Distress Ink to the page; covering the stencil with the ink, spritzing with water and then pressing the stencil onto the page. I added some Wild Honey Distress Ink to the page using the same technique but this time applying the ink pad to an acrylic block, then spritzing with water and pressing the block onto the page. I added the photo images and wording which were Kaisercraft stickers and I used the same stickers to create create a platform for the giraffes to stand on. The giraffes were die cut from different colours of Kraft Stock Classic Paper from Tim Holtz using a Gertrude Sizzix Thinlits set by Tim Holtz; I used Liquitex matte gel medium to stick them together.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!). I hope you are inspired to join our challenge; it would be lovely to see you there!

I was inspired by these beautiful giraffes from Blackpool Zoo; we visited earlier this year and as they happen to be my favourite, we made a bee-line to see them as soon as we arrived (smile!).

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. Oh I like your giraffe page a lot Jo. How can anyone not like a giraffe? They are beautiful and gentle. You made such a sweet page too. Thanks for sharing it with us at AJJ for Neet’s challenge also. Have a great week Jo. Hugs -Erika

  2. When I go to our zoo, there is always a big crowd around the giraffes. They are a favorite of everyone who visits. I adore how you treated your giraffes in this journal entry. They are so well done and I love how you created the platforms on which each of the giraffes stood. This is a wonderful entry for Neet’s theme at Art Journal Journey, dear Jo.

They really are adorable and I love how you have featured them in your Journal page. Lovely subtle background and a great idea for those platforms for the giraffes to stand on.Thanks for sharing them with my theme at Art Journal Journey.

  4. Jo: Your art journal page featuring giraffes is fantastic! The different approaches for ink and water using the stencil and the block add such interest for the background to the sentiments and giraffes! Excellent! –Becca/DT for MUICB
