Cute as a bug

It’s a new month so we are launching our September challenge today over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, and as always the theme is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

My mixed media page was inspired by a pretty Sunflower napkin that I just had to buy whilst out shopping.

I started by cutting panels from the napkin and sticking them onto the page using a glue stick. Then I added some colour between the napkin pieces using watered down Jasmine and Spice Spectrum Aqua Markers. Next I stamped a hexagon design from Docrafts over the top using Toffee Crunch Memento Ink. To finish, I edged the napkin pieces with black Glitterations border stickers and I added the cardstock stickers of a bee, flower and the wording “Cute as a bug”.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see join you there!

The sunflowers reminded me of September as we always have family holidaying with us this time of year who kindly gift us flowers which are often sunflowers; here’s the beautiful bouquet from last year (smile!).

I hope that you’re all staying safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

As well as Creative Artiste , I’m pleased to be joining the following challenges:

The lovely Neet from Hickydorums is hosting over at Art Journal Journey this month and her theme is Fur and/or Feathers; bees can be furry so I’m joining in the fun with my page (smile!).

  1. I never thought of bugs and bees but you are so right, they can be furry and a furry (fat as well) bumblebee took root on my other half’s glasses – on his knee – a short while ago. I was watching it and it really was furry.
Love hour age as always a delight to see, it is sok sunny with all that yellow, just like outside today.
Thanks for joining me withk my theme at AJJ.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  2. What a fabulous way to use a napkin. I am so glad you chose to use a napkin since it won’t be long now until we swap them. I LOVE how equally spaced everything is. You have such attention to detail. I am in awe. And that’s a really clever way of looking at bugs, bees, and butterflies, so you could join us using Neet’s theme at Art Journal Journey.

That’s a beautiful bouquet of flowers, especially the sunflowers. Mine should be blooming in about three weeks.

  3. Boy you are good at cutting napkins. I can never get my edges very straight. (Maybe my scissors aren’t sharp enough). This is such a lovely piece Jo, and I do really like that napkin. You can never go wrong with sunflowers. They are universally beautiful. Happy September to you. hugs-Erika

  4. We’ve seen some very furry bees lately and the way you have made this page makes it perfect for Neet’s AJJ theme. I love sunflowers – hoping I will see some lingering ones in France soon. We saw some last year and we were later visiting so fingers crossed! Hugs, Chrisx
