I love this time of year, so my page today is inspired by autumnal colours and some spooky bats to celebrate Halloween; I hope you like it!

I started by adding the large leaves, which were some leftover pieces of Botanicals Collage Paper by Tim Holtz, sticking them in place using Liquitex matte gel medium. When dry, I smooshed lots of Distress Inks over the page, the colours I used were Seedless Grapes, Spiced Marmalade and Twisted Citron. Next I added more foliage using an Urban Tapestry stamp set by Tim Holtz and black Archival Ink and then I splattered the page with black DecoArt acrylic paint. The black wreath circles and bats were die cut from black cardstock using a couple of Sizzix Thinlits sets; they were Pretty Wreath Thinlits by Peter Hughes and Halloween Hangouts Thinlits by Tim Holtz. The “Halloween” wording was created using letters from some Chipboard Quote chips by Tim Holtz. To finish, I added three Small Talk stickers which were also by Tim Holtz and read “stay curious”, “don’t forget to fly” and “be brave”.

Tracey was asking if I have lights on my autumn window display, well as you can see here I do (grin!).

I even have bats up for Halloween too and I managed to capture them here with the moon shining through the window – so spooky (double grin!).
I hope that you’re all staying safe and well,!

One of the first things that struck me was the big wreath with the word Halloween inside. Then I noticed the way you skillfully moved the colors around. This is a truly beautiful Halloween entry with bats, which are iconic favorites when it comes to Halloween. I love how you arranged the leaves on the page. I like the composition, but the background colors were simply amazing. Thanks for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey using Tracey’s theme.
As always, I like your autumn window. Nice to see it at night as well as the bat with the moon behind it,

Great page, Jo. Love the bats (just watched a special on why they are so beneficial to our world – pollen spreading and mosquito eating – makes me actually love them now – lol), the folliage, and those gorgeous ink colors. It is such a lovely composition. Erie and pretty. Hugz

That’s a lovely display in your home Jo, bet it’s spooky when the lights are low. I really must get mine up or it will be too late.
The page you created is gorgeous, I do like the colours you chose to use. The addition of the purple to the usual autumnal colours works really well and adds that touch of spookiness to it. One thing I notice about you is that you have perfect balance to your pages and this illustrates it well. I thought the diecut circle was actually a piece of wire that you had fashioned to use on your page – it is fabulous and works so well.
A wonderful piece –
Hugs, Neet xx

Jo this is a very beautiful journal page the spiced marmalade with the seedless preserve is a lovely combination. With its collage and batty bats filling the sky, it certainly spells out a wonderful time of year indeed. So happy to see you share this and join me @ Art Journal Journey again during October. I had a feeling there would be lights on your Autumnal window display.. they lead the way so those bats can find their way home hee hee..
Sorry i’m a little later than intended the weekend got a little bit crazy Hugs Tracey xx
