Travel and Adventure

Our new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday for the next 2 weeks is Travel and Adventure.

I also want to welcome the wonderfully talented Tammy from My Craft Central who has joined our design team; she is such an inspirational artist and I’m so happy that she has joined us.

For my travel and adventure page, I’m sailing the high seas using some beautiful papers from Stamperia. I hope that you are inspired to join our challenge too; it would be lovely to see you there!

I started by using one of my favourite techniques which involved smooshing some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto the centre of the page; I used a re-inker for this so I placed some ink onto an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and then pressed the block onto the page. When dry, I ripped a piece of Stamperia design paper in half and stuck it to the left and right-hand sides of the page using a glue stick.

For the tags and additional images, I used some more of the Stamperia papers and also some vintage stickers that have been in my craft stash for a while. I layered the paper pieces and stickers together and secured the ship tag and the anchor using some brown brads before sticking them in place using double-sided foam tape.

To finish, I added the wording which are Small Talk stickers from Tim Holtz; they read “no journey is to great if you find what you seek”, “adventure is worthwhile” and “travel the world over to find the beautiful”.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday and take a look you at the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies to see where their Travel & Adventure has taken them (grin!).

This page reminded me this fabulous T-shirt which we bought for my hubby whilst holidaying in New England, it’s from the Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland, Maine.

When we travel, we always enjoy looking at and trying the different local beers and here is my hubby checking out the different varieties at a supermarket in Maine; as you can see from the overhead signage Shipyard make a pumpkin ale which is where we got the idea of home-brewing our own pumpkin beer – my favourite (grin!).

As life on the high seas is thirsty work, I’m also joining T Stands for Tuesday with all these beers and saying a big welcome to the T Gang – cheers and Happy T Day!

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. Love the nautical theme of your page. The pic of the crab made me laugh as it reminded me of the sea spiders (tiny crabs at Enders Island) Looks like a fun trip to the grocery story. So many beers so little time. Happy T Day

  2. That is a stunning page Jo. It really goes back to the romantic days of sailing. And that is gorgeous paper from Stamperia. I haven’t seen that one (or I’d have to buy it-smile). I like the way you went with this theme. And nice T shirt. I can tell you visited in the fall with the Pumkinhead on the Shipyard beer sign. Not quite ready for fall yet but good to know it is coming. Hope July is going well and happy T day to you. Hugs-Erika

  3. I felt like I was taken back in time when pirates roamed the high seas. I love the ancient feel to this. Even the colors convey that, Nicely done with the tags, too. They really stand out beautifully.

I really like that tee shirt you husband is wearing. It goes so well with your journal page, too. I know how much you both love beer, so it only seems natural you would check out local beers. Thanks for sharing your incredible journal page and the beers you two were checking out for T this Tuesday, dear Jo.

  8. Hi Jo, sorry for the late visit, had a busy day yesterday and by the time we arrived home the temperature was 38c so a swim was the only thing to do. Thanks for your visit yesterday.
I love your journal pages, love the blue and cream, very vintage looking and all the gorgeous elements and sentiments you’ve used.
I love the stacked cases of beer, reminds me of when I worked in a supermarket for a short time, I had to stack soft drinks, so high I had to stand on a step ladder to lift the cases up!
    Happy belated T Day

  9. Wow, those are beautiful papers by Stamperia. I love maps and the vintage look. A winner!
Great T-shirt! Even better now I know what it means. Interesting photo of your hubby by the pumpkin beer. So funny that he is standing under the Corona sign. Corona had not arrived when the photo was taken probably. (Yes, of course I know it is a brand of beer, but it was funny)
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,

How fun that you try beers wherever you travel – a cool T-shirt too. Even cooler you make your own pumpkin beer! Maine is such a great place – I visited years ago and loved it.
