Here comes Summer

Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Here comes Summer.

I created a page full of summer sunshine – I hope you’re inspired to join our challenge too; it would be lovely to see you there!

I started by stencilling the sunbursts over the page using a stencil from Marianne Designs and some Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Scattered Straw Distress Inks. Next I painted some Salty Ocean Distress Ink in-between each of the sun rays to create blue skies and then I splattered the page with the same blue ink and also some Mustard Seed Distress Ink. I added the black wording to the background using some rub-on transfers and to finish, I layered together some black and yellow paper to frame the beach notecard which reads “Seagulls on the ocean breeze, sandpipers and shimmering seas … the best of days are made of these”.

As you may remember I’m trying to use up leftovers on my pages this year and I’ve been meaning to use this notecard on a page for a while now, it was leftover from a pack that I used to notify people of our change of address when we moved here, by the sea, many years ago (grin!).

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday and take a look you at the wonderful Here comes Summer creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, today I’m sharing my hubby’s summer mug that reminded me of my page and also the beach where we live – wishing you a Happy T Day!

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. The suns on your background are amazing Jo. That is a great idea to use lots of them. It sure feels like summer when the sun is shining so brightly. And the beach scene is beautiful too. Your husband’s mug is great and perfect for T with your post today too. The beach is a great summer topic, isn’t it? Have a wonderful T day and week ahead. Hugs-Erika

  2. I really felt the warmth of this beauty. I was so impressed that you used this card. It’s truly an inspiration. I love how you matted it, too. The sun’s rays are a great addition to the card. I really like that stencil.

I LOVE your husband’s mug. I adore the little sandpiper with the bucket in his beak and of course, those beach houses/huts we never see in the states. Thanks for sharing your incredible art and your husband’s perfect mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jo.

  5. Oooh! All those suns – I hope they represent some full sun days, although I do like a little bit of cloud from time to time (and of course rain overnight!!) Great idea to use one of your cards. Your hubby’s cup is fabulous – I used to love it when we hired a beach hut when I was little! Happy T day, Chrisx

  6. That is a really summery page! I can almost feel the sun rays on me. And the note card is so cute. Good that you are using up stuff.
I love your hubby’s mug. The beach huts are so typically English.

  7. You created the perfect backdrop for that notecard Jo. so bright and cheerful full of summer. Reminds me of a seaside postcard i’d be drawn to all the time… Happy days. I#ll be asking your secret if you get to use up all your scraps and left overs as i’ve been on this mission since 2013 and they never get any smaller 😀
Hope you are keeping well? Apologies for my late catch up been a hard week and a bit.
Hugs for a better one this week Hugs Tracey xx
