Eight Days A Week

Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Inspired by a Song; please remember to let us know which song inspired your projects too.

My page was inspired by one of my hubby’s favourite Beatles songs, Eight days a week. I hope that you’ll join our challenge too; it would be lovely to see you there!

As this song is about love, the background of my page was covered in hearts. I did this using one of the very first stamps that I bought when I started art journaling, and the hearts were stamped using Lulu Lavender, Grape Jelly, Paris Dusk and Teal Zeal Memento Inks. I used a brayer to add some Pébéo white gesso over the top to push the colours back into the background more. “The Beatles” wording and image were recycled from a paper bag that I had in my craft stash; it was from when we visited The Beatles Story in Liverpool. The paper flowers were a gifted to me by my sister for Christmas and were arranged onto the page using Liquitex matte gel medium; maybe you noticed that I included eight flowers on this page to match the song title. The wording “Eight days a week” and the “8” that I added to the centre of each of the flowers were cut from white cardstock using an Alphanumeric Bold Thinlits die set. I coloured the song title wording using a Navy Spectrum Aqua marker before sticking them into place which finished the page.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday and find out which songs inspired the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies too (grin!).

We love Liverpool and have visited many times. Of course Liverpool is synonymous with The Beatles and there are lots of Beatles things to see and do around the city. This includes The Beatle Story, which is well worth a visit; it’s a permanent exhibition telling the story of the lives and times of The Beatles.

This is an iconic statue of the “Fab Four” located along the waterfront near the Liverbird Building and Mersey Ferry Terminal.

As we always visit Rococo for lunch when we are in Liverpool and T Stands for Tuesday, I’m pleased to share our green tea from one of our visits. We also enjoyed a Club sandwich to share and a cake each; I had a Lemon and Poppy Seed Muffin whilst my hubby had a Malteser (malt ball) Slice – Happy T Day everyone!

If you’re interested, here’s The Beatles singing Eight Days A Week too.

Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. Hi Jo, that’s a great song your hubby chose, and you made a wonderful page with it, well done!. Thanks for the pics of Liverpool, too. I loved the time I lived there back in the early 1970s. Have a great day, take care, and keep singing! Hugs, Valerie

  2. This is a super page Jo. I love how you added the 8s to the flowers. That is really clever! I like how you recycled the paper bag image too. That really focuses your eye on the page. And I’m glad you included the Beatles Story museum. That looks like a place I would love to visit. I didn’t know it even existed, but I guess I should not be surprised. Thanks for sharing your page with us at AJJ also Jo. And your treats looks yummy. It would be hard for me to chose between the muffin and that chocolate malt cake. Hope you also have a wonderful T day Jo. hugs-Erika

  4. What a great journal page. It certainly has that retro feel with the flowers. I have never hear this Beatles song so I will have a listen. I bet that is a great museum for any Beatles fan.
Your meal looks delicious but that cake slice has me drooling! That is probably my whole days worth of calories in one slice. (haha)
    Happy Tea Day,

  6. You are so clever, Jo. I have never been a Beatles fan, but I’m finally starting to appreciate them. I do like that song. You represented it so well with your art journal, too. I love all the 8s you added. Thanks, too for sharing this with us at Art Journal Journey honoring Eileen’s theme.

Now I’m REALLY hungry. I’m off to see if my tummy can take food. Your sandwich and desserts were awesome and went well with your green tea. Thank so much for sharing these goodies, as well as your art journal, and your tea, of course, with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

  7. Jo I love your artwork with the Beatles, my era and we have them on our music list in the car, we still sing along to them, funny how I can still remember all the words, she loves you was the first single I ever bought!

  8. Oh that was such a great song! I think it was from the Rubber Soul album. (sorry I’m too lazy to look it up). In the early sixties, when we were on holiday in England, my sister and I insisted we wanted to visit Liverpool as a sort of pilgrimage. In those days there was nothing about the Beatles to be seen in the city, but for us it was like walking on holy ground. This was the city the Beatles grew up in. We spent one day there and the ‘floated’ through the streets. I’ll never forget.
    Happy T-Day (belated),
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  9. What a fabulous post! I enjoyed your artwork and explanation. I don’t know which I enjoyed seeing best; the Fab Four iconic Statue, or the delicious looking Rocco lunch! Happy T Day, late.

  11. A ‘fab’ page Jo, love that song and it’s great that you had souvenirs from your visit to the exhibition which you could use. Lunch looks lovely and I’ll opt for the muffin too.

  12. Hi, Jo. The hearts make a fine background especially gesso’d. I was 8 in 1964 and a member of the USA Beatles Fan Club. Had every album at one time and still most of them. Plus one from the fan club the last year. This was a fun and nostalgic post to read! I can still remember being so jealous of Jane Asher for being Paul’s girlfriend, lol. This was before Linda. Now, I also have to remark on the food — that is a whopper of a club sandwich! And hubby’s desert looks like a brownie with malted milk balls (?) on it. Very interesting and delish looking. Hope you have a good weekend! XOX
