Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Use a stencil or two.
I had fun creating this page using a couple of stencils for the crackle texture and the background text. I hope you’re inspired to use a stencil to join our challenge too; it would be lovely to see you there!
I started by applying Distress Inks to the background by pressing the stamp pad onto a blending mat, spritzing them with water and then pressing the mat onto the page; the colours included Speckled Egg, Fossilized Amber, Mustard Seed, Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade and Salty Ocean.
When dry, I stencilled some Ranger Crackle Texture Paste over the top using a Moroccan stencil from Creative Expressions and left it to dry overnight.
Next I added the text using a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop and some Speckled Egg Distress Ink. The pretty flower was a Penny Black sticker which I mounted onto some white cardstock and stuck in place using double-sided tape. The wording was a Kaisercraft sticker and reads “Live Laugh Love”. To finish, I recycled three stone discs from an old necklace to embellish the page and I added a pearl gemstone to the centre of each stone.
For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday and take a look you at the amazing creations from our Guest Designer and my Design Teamies (grin!).
As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing my cup of Ceylon Tea with a hot cross bun which was lightly toasted and buttered – yum! Happy T Day everyone!
Hoping that you’re all staying safe and well!
Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Stencilling in this way is a mysterious art to me and the crackle texture pattern creates a pretty amazing background. I’m also impressed by how you did the stencilled writing, it is so subtle.
Adding the discs and pearls is another fascinating idea.
The flower sits there perfectly happy to admire its very own special background.
Thanks very much, Jo, for this great addition to our challenge at AJJ.

Wonderful piece, sorry I couldn’t join in this time. Perhaps I can make something for next week. Can’t do much just now, so this is a generic comment I’m sending to all teamies. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

You have outdone yourself, Jo. This is stunning. I like how you started with the smooshing and went on to use that crackle. It shows so well under the stencil you used. This is, as always with you, an exceptional entry. Of course, adding the flower made it the absolute PERFECT entry for Sheila’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too. Thanks for sharing it.
I would love a hot cross bun. Yours looks like it has raisins in it, which I would also love. I’m sure it went well with your Ceylon tea, too. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous journal page, your hot cross bun, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

Such a beautiful page. Your texture stencil reminds me of Celtic knotwork, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. I adore hot cross buns. I think I’ll have to make some for the weekend. Happy T Day

What a gorgeous page Jo. I like the crackle texture. And that grey blue is just enough color. The flower pops right off the page. Thanks also for joining Sheila’s challenge at AJJ too. Your hot cross bun looks yummy. I’ve been thinking of making them, as I’m not sure I have ever had one. Thanks for the baking inspiration. Hope it was a great T day. I was busy painting my living room today so I’m behind. Hugs-Erika

this is drop dead gorgeous and how clever to mingle that single flower with it’s eroded background over that fresh springtime background you prepared with your inks and crackle texture. Love this contrast and your AJP! And thank you once again for playing along in our Anything Goes Challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique challenge blog!
