Over at Try it on Tuesday our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Winter Blues, where we are asking you to use the colour blue.
This was the perfect challenge for me as blue happens to be my favourite colour (grin!). I hope you like my wintry blue journal page and are inspired to join us; it would be lovely to see you there!
I started by colouring the background using After Midnight Dylusions Spray Ink and Speckled Egg Distress Ink. When dry, I covered the page with Pébéo clear gesso; this stopped the inks reactivating and bleeding into the next layers of media that I added. Next I splattered the page with white acrylic paint and left it to dry. For the snowflakes, I die cut them using a Paper Snowflakes Thinlits set by Tim Holtz from some blue and white mottled paper from Craft Sensations. They were arranged around the edges of the page using Liquitex matte gel medium.
The pretty winter scene of the hares was a recycled Christmas card and the quote was from a Kaisercraft sticker sheet. I thought the quote was perfect to combat those winter blues; it’s by Ralph Waldo Emerson and reads “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year”.
For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday and take a look you at the amazing Winter Blues creations from my Design Teamies too (grin!).
As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing my new Assam Tea. This is a loose leaf tea and has a delicately rich and malty flavour – Happy T Day!
Hope that you’re all staying safe and well!
Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

I love that blue too Jo. And the bunnies hopping across the snow is a super image to add also. Your page sure feels like a wonderful winter day. Thanks for sharing your favorite color with us at AJJ also. Much appreciated. This page works perfect for both challenges. And nice heart cup for T too. I have put my few heart decorations out. Hearts are a favorite shape of mine also. Hope all is well and you have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

Blue is indeed a calming color. The way our eye is designed makes blue a perfect background, because it looks further away, and so it’s a favorite with many people.

I’m once again running behind, but I sure love this beautiful wintry scene you created for us. I love that you recycled art and used those hares I love so much better than the “bunnies” we seem to use in the states. Thanks, too for sharing this beauty with us at Art Journal Journey.
Your heartfelt blue cup of tea sounds wonderful. I also prefer loose leaf to tea bags, but I don’t drink as much as you obviously do. Thanks for sharing this tea and your lovely journal page with us for T this Tuesday, dear Jo.

Jo, I love your colors and that fun image of the rabbits, but the words grabbed me. They are something to live by for sure and they look fab on your winter blue page full of gorgeous snowflakes. That tea sounds fabulous. I need to try it. I am addicted to Tazo Glazed Lemon Loaf dessert tea right now :). Hugz

I don’t think I have a favourite colour but i do have a tendency to lean towards blues when colouring is called for in a project so this was right up my street. What a gorgeous mix of colours you used to achieve this and thanks for the tip about the clear Gesso. I have some ‘clear’ but had no idea why I had bought it and doubt it was for this reason but now I can use it and usefully too.
Those are gorgeous snowflakes, so delicate and the picture of the hares is absolutely beautiful. I know someone who would love this page, I save any hare pictures I get for her. It really is a beautiful picture and this is a beautiful page.
Hugs, Neet xx
ps I keep meaning to say I love the necklace you are wearing in your photo – it is a lovely photo too, what a gorgeous smile you have on it.
