Today is full of possibilities

Over at Try it on Tuesday our new challenge for the next two weeks is Words/Numbers.

I created a world of Words and Numbers for my steampunk birds using collage paper, stencils, stamps, stickers and quote chips; I hope you’re inspired to join us too, it would be lovely to see you there!

I started by covering the page with collage paper by Tim Holtz, this one is called Typeset and has lots of words and numbers on it. Then I applied some Pébéo white gesso with my finger and left it to dry. I dragged a Tea Dye Stamp Pad over the top of the paper and spritzed the ink with water to disperse the colour. When dry I stencilled some Wheels using a Dina Wakley stencil and some Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Then I stamped some Steampunk images and some background texture from a couple of Docrafts stamp sets using Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Archival Distress Ink.

The crowns, butterflies, strips of numbers and banners are from a Kaisercraft sticker sheet; I created some shadows around their edges using a Black Faber-Castell marker and outlined them using a black Uni Pin marker.

The birds were created using a Feathered Friends Thinlet set from Tim Holtz; they are cut from linen textured cardstock that I had coloured using Tea Dye, Ground Espresso and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. Their hats were stamped, using the Steampunk stamp set from Docrafts and black Archival Ink, onto white cardstock which I had coloured using Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss and Twisted Citron Distress Inks. I coloured the goggles on the hats using metallic gold and silver Daler-Rowney pens and used Glossy Accents to depict the glass in the lenses. To finish, I added wording with a Quote Chip from Tim Holtz which reads “Today is full of possibilities”.

I hope that you are inspired to join us too, for more inspiration my Design Teamies have created some Words/Numbers creations for you over at Try it on Tuesday, so please pop over and take a look (grin!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing some homebrewed beer that we’ve been bottling. As you can see we have capping machine which makes short work of capping 35 to 40 bottles (grin!). This particular beer is a wheat beer which is perfect for summer but we have both amber and dark beers too (even a Porter style one which I believe some of you would prefer) – cheers and Happy T Day!

Hoping that you’re all staying safe and well! x

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  1. A fabulous page Jo, I love the steampunk birds!
We’ve brewed some beer for the first time this year, although it’s a little too malty for my taste. It was a birthday present for Graham so we didn’t get a choice of beer type. We prefer an amber or pale 🍺 Only another 20 bottles to drink 😂

    • Thanks so much! I hope you had fun brewing the beer, I love dark malty beer so it would be perfect for me, mind you saying that amber or pale are pretty good too …lol 😀. Hope you had a great week! Happy Friday and weekend! Hugs, Jo x

  2. Oh, help!!!! I MUST keep Hubby from seeing your blog post!!!
Ages ago he brewed beer, too. – it was a lot of work and the smell was rather… and he had some beeping thingy for it, too. Nooooo, not again 😉 Plus he would buy that machine, nooo…. our condo is full of stuff!
How does the beer taste? Did you go for a summery ale or…?

    • Luckily my hubby has space to brew outside …lol 😀. We make light ales for summer and spring like Spiced Honey Ale, Elderflower Ale and Coriander and Lime, as well as Irish Red and Pumpkin Ale for autumn/fall and also dark ones like Old Peculiar and Christmas Ale for winter – everything is so yummy …lol 🍻 🍺. Thanks so much! Cheers and happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x

  3. Since I know we´re all a tad lazy going back to our comments, I copied my answer 🙂
Jo. I booked tickets, we´re on the way!!!! 😉
That sounds YUM!!! We had chocolate beer some Christmas (bought). And our lille Jürgens brewery had honey beer, too, YUM.

  4. I really enjoyed your steampunk beauty. I loved the background with the gears and balloon. I was impressed with the way you colored it. I was especially impressed with the birds and how you positioned them on the page. But those hats were the crowning glory. I loved what you did with the glasses. Such attention to detail, dear.

That beer looks yummy, but I’ll wait for the stout, thank you. I can see you two really get into your beer making and don’t do anything half-way. What a fun way to celebrate T this Tuesday. That capping machine must have come in handy, too. Thanks so much for sharing your art and your beer with us for T, dear Jo.

  6. Your possibilities page is so fun. I love the hats on the birds. Looks like you have quite a productions with your home brew. Is being a micro brewery a possibility for you? Happy T Day!

    • Thanks so much! Yes we love brewing beer, no micro brewery though as I think it wouldn’t be as much fun to make and the time and cost it takes to make wouldn’t be worth it, anyhow my hubby doesn’t like sharing his beer that much …lol 😀. Take care and happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  7. Great collage artwork. It’s always a pleasure to see what you’ve created from week to week. Just out of curiosity, do they have any kind of “rhinoceros” beer where you are? I don’t like beer, but I had collected some beer bottles that had a rhino logo on them. 🙂 One beer name that I recall: Hornsby Beer (I think that was it). Happy T-Day!

    • Thanks so much! It’s just for family, we have strict licencing laws here so if we sold it we wouldn’t be able to drink it ourselves – so no plans to sell it either …lol 😀. Take care and happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  8. What a fun steampunkish journal page. The little hats on the birds are adorable.
What a fun idea to make your own beer. I don’t drink but I make my own kombucha. A capping machine would make things much easier for sure.
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  9. I really like those steampunk birds. And the number strip. That is a cool sticker. Your page is very fun. And I’ll try one bottle of each type of beer please. Before you know it you will have your own brewery. Smile. Hope it was a happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  10. The layers are incredible on your journal page. I always find it a bit difficult to work with really patterned papers but you did a great job!
Also nice job on the home brew and bottling. Always nice to see and taste the fruits of your labor.
    Happy T day!

  11. What a fabulous AJP, Jo! I love the steampunk birdies! I coveted those birds so much, and finally got them, but they’ve not been allowed out of their packaging to date. Now, I’m inspired to finally use them! Hoiw cool you bottle your own beers. My dad did that when I was a kid and before it became such a ‘thing’. We also made home brewed root beer, and later my dad tried his hand at homemade whiskey! Still get a chuckle out of that, because he spilled some on our kitchen floor and it ate through the linoleum. A great test to see if it was fit to drink, I’d say! Big hugs!

  12. What a great page! I love all that Tim Holz stuff and the steampunky images.
Well done you for brewing your own beer. We have done it in the past but only from a kit. Creating your own flavours I suppose is part of the fun. If I lived any nearer I’d come and sample.
I’m into brewing Kombucha and my pantry is like a brewery. Luckily there are no nasty smells.
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  13. I didn’t think I had seen this piece Jo so glad I popped on over to check… Duh!! how could I have missed this awesome page, don’t those wee birdies look *tweet* in their steampunk hats hee hee!! Fab build up of background, I love this.
I’m hoping today will be full of possibilities for me as i’m having a day off to go play in my crafty space. A grey day here after two very sunny & hot days..
I’m not sharing your capping machine with Hubby, he’ll just want one hee hee!
    Sunday Hugs Tracey xx
