Something New at AJJ – Thank you!

As it’s the end of the month January, I’m sharing my last page for the Something New challenge over at Art Journal Journey which I’ve been hosting this month, thank you so much to everyone who joined in the fun!

I created this page to remember you all and to say thank you, I really appreciate all your kind comments and support throughout the month and have thoroughly enjoyed visiting your blogs and seeing all your wonderful artwork (grin!).

I started by printing the listing of your names from Art Journal Journey and sticking them onto the page in blocks using a glue stick. Then I selected three papers from a new Docrafts paper pack and tore small pieces of the papers to collage them onto the page around the names using Liquitex matte gel medium. Once dry, I doodled along the edges using a black marker pen. Next I cut a circle from the grey paper using a die cut and my Big Shot machine and stamped the wording onto it using black Archival Ink, for the “something new” wording I used a Concord & 9th stamp set and for the “Art Journal Journey” I used a Dovecraft stamp set. To finish, I stuck some pretty little flowers, the green “so very grateful” banner and some black word stickers onto the page, all of which are from Kaisercraft; the black stickers read “you”, “amazing”, “good life”, “so pretty”, “smile”, “love” and “imagine”.

I had fun creating my pages for this challenge and tried out 5 new techniques which included transforming new paper to old, a background using watercolour paints and sea salt, a rusty grunge background using texture paste, painting through a mask and a 3D hot glue effect. I also used lots of new products along the way …

… as well as celebrating the New Year, a visit to a new café and new beginnings.

I had so much fun creating all my pages for the Something New challenge and I hope you did too. Thank you all for your participation and lovely comments, you made it such a pleasure to host this challenge!

I’d also like to say a special thanks to Bleubeard & Elizabeth and Yvonne for asking me to be a guest host, they provided such valuable support and encouragement, thanks so much!

Tomorrow is a new month and brings a new challenge at Art Journal Journey and I can’t wait to see what the new theme is and say hello to our new host – I hope to see you there!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  3. I feel really bad, Jo. I wanted to create more art and visit more often, but my body just wouldn’t allow it. For once, I had to allow others to take over, since I simply could not. However, you have been a fabulous host this month and I love the way you wrapped up the month, too. It’s always fun to see and it’s always a great way to share what you accomplished for the month. This is fabulous and I am SO proud to have you as our guest host for January this year. Thank you for all you did as our host this month, dear. You have NO idea how grateful I am. Bleubeard, too, of course.

Oh I´d give a lot to be that creative to join, but, nada, I only can visit and say, “awwww”.
So many ideas, so many beautiful artworks. I could be jealous and am glad I am not, but am able to love it all 🙂

  6. That is a lovely thing to make for the participants, Jo. I remember you did it before too.
Of course we look for our own name, don’t we. I’m only sorry I could only manage one and I’ve no idea how you manage to make so much very fine art and also visit and comment so beautifully.
Perhaps a blogpost on Time Management would help us Time-deprived souls.

  7. So sorry I missed joining in last month… January just ran away from me (part of the reason why is on my blog today!). What a great way to celebrate all those fabulous entries – congrats on what was clearly a very inspiring theme.
