As it’s the season for putting up Christmas trees and decorations I created this page to celebrate, I hope you like it!
Don’t forget that you still have until 2nd Jan 2020 to join us over at A Vintage Journey for our Holly Jolly Christmas challenge too. This art journal page fits the challenge perfectly, it would be lovely to see you there (grin!).
To start I coloured the background with three shades of green Liquitex acrylic paint, firstly painting them on the page and then once dry applying them again to the page using a palette knife to create layers of colour. I splattered the page with some white and black acrylic paint and created a stencil using Tim Holtz Holiday Green Thinlets to add green fir tree branches to the background using Shabby Shutters and Forest Moss Distress Ink. I used the same Thinlet set to create the white branches from some recycled white card and arranged them on the page with some white bauble stickers. Next I used a Snowy Star Thinlets set from Tim Holtz to create the white stars which are stuck in place using a Zig glue pen. To finish, I added some Tim Holtz stickers which read “sparkly decorations”, “around the Christmas tree” and “the sparkly Christmas tree”.
Here is me and hubby in front of one of our Christmas trees, this one is in the front room window and has a red, white and gold theme of flowers and foliage (grin!).
Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

I was amazed at the background. You must have spent a lot of time on it. It’s gorgeous, but so are the baubles and the branches. This is one incredibly well thought out entry, dear and we are SO delighted you chose to share it with us using Yvonne’s theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
What a fun tree. I like that you have more than one tree in your home. Same with me! This one and the theme makes me smile.

Thanks so much! That’s wonderful, so glad that you had a mixed media pad to use already 😁. All you really need to start now is your imagination and you will probably find (like I did) that you have enough materials (scissors, glue, paper, pens, paints etc) to start straight away. My first Art Journal page was created with cheap basic inks, a wallpaper sample (free) and a stamp which was free in a craft magazine. There was nothing fancy about it and over time you can build up materials for use in your art journaling (your Craft Stash). So excited to see your pages, I can’t wait …lol 😉. Happy weekend dear Kathy! Hugs, Jo x

Oh, I very much like this journal page, Jo. I am surprised the green background was done with a palette knife, it looks so smooth and translucent like inks! Brilliant to make a matching stencil for the branches and perfect pops of white with the baubles and the branch die. And such a nice photo of you! xoxo

Wow – those beautiful fir greens are amazing, and I love the subtle needle shapes emerging from the depths. The white embossing over the top is magical. A fabulous page. Sorry I’m behind on visiting… still catching up with myself after being unwell. Hope to see more soon.
