Christmas is coming

For the next two weeks our new challenge at Try it on Tuesday is Christmas is coming.

My art journal page features traditional Christmas red and green colours and Christmas trees; I love all things Christmas so I can’t wait to see your Christmas creations (grin!).

For the background, I stamped a Lattice stamp using Aged Mahogany Distress Ink over the whole page and then spritzed the page with water. When dry I added pieces of green polka dot washi tape to create the Christmas tree, added some red gemstones and then the numbers and trunk which are stickers from Kaisercraft. Next I die cut the letters to create the “Christmas is coming” wording out of white card; they are coloured using a green pen, stuck in place using Zig glue pen and more detail was added using a white Uniball gel pen. I used another sticker set to add the snowflake discs and create the tags, layering them together with the trees and stars and adding a bow of red and white twine. I also added some wording from a Tim Holtz Christmas sticker book which reads “the best tree”, “the magic tree”, “Christmas time has come at last” and “25th of December”. To finish, I added some green and white glittery snowflakes and also some red gems to the tags and snowflake discs.

There’s some amazing inspiration from my Design Teamies over at Try it on Tuesday too, so please pop over to take a look.

The numbered tree that I’ve created on this page could be used to count down the days until Christmas. I’m not sure where this year has gone now that December is here and oh my, there are only 15 days left until Christmas!

Another way this page could be used is as a calendar marking off the dates until Christmas Day is here. I think my friends have the best idea though, with the reward of a chocolate each day from this fabulous advent calendar! I may just have to get one of these next year – looks so yummy (grin!).

I noticed this advent calendar when we were visiting little Ellie, doesn’t she look adorable after her recent visit for her trim at the doggie parlour (double grin!).

Oh, and not forgetting hot chocolate for T Stands for Tuesday . This time of year we often enjoy a cup with a scrummy Lebkuchen which are only on sale at Christmastime. These ones are dipped in dark chocolate – delicious! I’m saying a big hello to the T Gang – Happy T day!

Thanks for joining me today! If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

  2. That chocolate advent calendar is super inspiration and I am with you, that would be a great calendar to have. I am doing a doggie one for the dogs, and I am having fun with that so maybe I need one for myself also. I love how you made the page. That background is amazing. ANd so is the tree image. And Ellie is so cute with her new hairdo. And lastly, that hot chocolate looks yummy. Especially with that dollop of cream on each cup. That would taste good now as a morning wake up. Have a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

An advent calendar with chocolates is really yummy.
Oh lovely lebkuchen! We haven’t got them here, but I am going to Holland next week and I’m sure I will be able to get them there. I couldn’t see the link. I got a message saying my browser is outdated and I have to update it. I will have to go into Google Chrome and see how I update it…
    Have a lovely T-Day,

  9. Your Lattice stamp over the whole background is gorgeous! Of course I like all your other details you added to the Christmas page – yes, only 15 days and Christmas is here! For me the time flies too.

  10. Your Christmas countdown is very cute. A friend of mine who teaches German was having an Advent calendar fund raiser for the trip to Germany she takes with her students. I bought 3. One for The Eldest, one for the Young One, and one for Himself and me. We are taking turns opening the door for the little chocolate treat. Ellie looks like a cute (for a dog 😺) stuffed animal. Mmmm, the lebkuchen sounds like a bit of heaven. Happy T Day.

  12. This was a delicious looking post. I like the advent calendar with chocolates in it. I had one like that one year. It was tasty. 🙂 I like your Christmas artwork. I’ll try to join the challenge. Ellie looks adorable. How can you resist that face? (It looks like she’s thinking, “I’d like a dog cookie please.”) Happy T-Day!

  13. Just stopping by to let you know I’m back online. Both my internet AND my phone were down. I walked to my foodie friend Sally’s to use her phone to call the phone company and Sharon who graciously left the message you saw at T time.

I complained to the phone company that my internet often goes down on Mondays. I bet Sharon is getting tired of hearing from me on Monday afternoons. I asked the repair person what the problem was and he said “a line down the block had broken,” and after he repaired it, he came here and reset my phone AND internet lines. This was the greatest early Christmas gift I could have received. Yes, I’m doing a happy dance.

I can’t possibly catch up with you at the moment, but I am simply grateful that you chose to visit and spend T time with me today. Thank you for that.

I have to admit, your advent tree looks WONDERFUL. I only use trees to decorate my home each year and I think this is perfect. I love it. I also love that you shared it with us using Yvonne’s theme at Art Journal Journey. Love is definitely in the air with those love mugs, too. Thanks for joining in for T this Tuesday.

Lebkuchen is my best friend here as well just now, I found some delicious completely in dark chocolate covered vegan Lebkuchen at Aldi and are in heaven with it together with my vegan homemade Vanillekipferl lol.
    Happy time dear Jo!!!!

  15. I love everything Christmas too, Jo. Except the shortage of time. “So many toys, so little time” – lol. Beautiful Advent Tree calendar page! I love the meticulously stamped background. Actually I like yours better than the chocolate one. I love chocolate but your page is not only prettier; it has fewer calories 😉
    Happy T-day! Eileen xx
