Dancing Daffodils

This time of year, gardens are alive with spring flowers. I had some pots of daffodil bulbs on my windowsill to celebrate spring and the flowers dried whilst on the plant, so I pressed them and created this art journal page.

Dancing Daffodils - Art journal page

The background was created using Tim Holtz Distress inks, Liquitex acrylic paints and a doile stamp by Dovecraft. I love how the colours flow vertically down the page, like blades of grass. Strips of an old dictionary page (from my school days) were used for the daffodil stems, as well as the background to the butterfly stamps. The daffodils themselves were carefully glued down using a cocktail stick and wood adhesive. To finish I stamped the sentiment, added decorative tape around the edges and wrote excerpts from Wordsworth’s famous poem to the daffodil stems. I really enjoyed creating this page, and it reminds me of springtime when I display the page.

This was my windowsill when the daffodils were in bloom, they looked so pretty I was inspired to create my art journal page. The daffodils in the middle are artificial, but that didn’t stop a huge bumblebee that flew into the kitchen one day.
